Itchy

I was shopping for gifts a day before Christmas when I noticed the skin of the woman in front of me at the very long line to the cashier.

She had these spots all over, but it was the worst in her ears and hairline. Looking at her really made me feel itchy I wanted to run out of the Bench store and take a bath.

And yes I shopped at Bench because some of my inaanaks are already pre-teens.

It’s a kiddie camping chair but some kids are heavier than me so I guess it’s okay.

Costs P399 at Ace Hardware. Price doesn’t include Princess, though.

The Case Logic TBC-306

I didn’t wanna bring my DSLR bag, the one that came in the package, because it’s a little bulky and it won’t fit my backpack. I knew slinging the camera bag on my shoulders while commuting would be an invitation for snatchers to “come and get it.”

So I’ve been leaving the camera bag at home and putting my camera inside my backpack, cushioning it with clothes…

DSC_0963

I knew it’s not okay to let the camera juggle with my stuff inside the backpack. So when I chanced upon this small Case Logic DSLR bag (model code TBC-306), I bought it in an instant. And that impulse buy left me with just 10 pesos in my pocket when I arrived home.

No regrets, though.

DSC_0964

Aside from main compartment, it has a front and two side pockets where you can put your extra memory card, lens cap, or in my case, coins and a packet of tissue. You can also stuff the side pockets with extra cushion if you’re paranoid like that.

DSC_0968

It comes with a sling, but I think I’m not gonna use it since I bought a camera bag that small so I can put it inside my backpack. :D

Nanay always tells me to tone it down when commuting.

2012-06-18 15.02.00

My Nikon fits snuggly inside the Case Logic.

And just look at its size difference from the free camera bag:

DSC_0967

The bigger one, however, is padded enough and fits the camera and the lens separately, plus another small lens at the same time. The Case Logic can only accommodate my Nikon with its stock lens attached. You can’t blame it, though, because it’s so small… And (again) I wanted a small one so it would fit in my backpack.

No reason to fold documents anymore

Been looking for an affordable bag that could fit my DSLR and netbook. Not a backpack, but something I could use in meetings and stuff.

DSC_0549

So I didn’t let this one go when I saw it on display in a Folded and Hung store last Saturday. (And yes, I photographed it on top of Princess’ cage.)

It only comes in brown and costs Php1,399.

Converse Gives Up to 50% Discount This October

I love Converse. I didn't wear one until about 4 years ago, though. I love how versatile it can be that I wear it practically everywhere.

image

And that single pair is still in good condition up until now. Last time I wore it? When I sang at the wedding reception of a friend's brother last August. LoL!

Converse is holding a sale at the Olympic Outlet in Robinsons Pioneer the whole month of October. Avail of up to 50% off on selected footwear, apparel and accessories starting today!

I guess it's time for me to buy another pair!

Barefoot

Went to Market! Market! with K last Saturday mainly to buy Princess' Solcoceryl. Her right eye got punctured two Saturdays ago when she played with our cat.

We roamed around the mall first, lingering for so long inside Sandugo planning on buying this and that, agreeing that there should be a shop that rents mountaineering stuff (like tents and bags) for people like us who can't afford these branded, high-priced items.

Wanting to experience how Merrells feel, we headed to the brand's concept store. I tried on Waterpro Maipo, Gauley, Ottawa, and the Barefoot Trail Glove.

The Barefoot Trail Glove provides a different feel. It's so comfortable and you can actually feel the air going through the shoes. Walking around in Barefoot doesn't really feel like being barefoot, but of all the shoes I tried, it's the pair that comes close to wearing no shoes at all.

Aside from running, the store rep said I could also use Barefoot to climb (he even pointed the campaign on their shop window that read "walk, run, hike") so I ended up going home with lesser money.

And because we realized we don't always go to Market! Market! and because the shops near us don't have much mountaineering stuff, we went back to Sandugo to finally buy my bladder. I would've bought a 3-liter bladder but since the Sandugo brand only had 2-liter available (and the 3-liter ones were the very expensive Nalgene), I settled for 2 liters.

We went to R.O.X. at High Street to just look around, and almost forgot about Princess' Solcoceryl. LoL! So we had to go back to the mall to buy from Mercury Drug.

Last Thursday, on my way to the cinema to watch Harry Potter, something at Penshoppe caught my eyes. It was near the entrance of the store and was staring right at me.

I couldn't resist.

Pink!

Last Saturday, on our way to Pico de Loro, I randomly picked a traveller toothbrush set from a rack in Mini Stop and paid for it. When I opened the case after the climb, I laughed when I saw its color.

And then last Sunday, after bringing Princess to the vet for a CBC, I dropped by the Torque kiosk at the connecting bridge of SM Bicutan to buy myself their cheapest phone. There were three available colors: pink, black, and yellow. I immediately asked to look at the black model. Not good. Everything’s so shiny black in contrast with the rubbery black of the keypad. I asked for the yellow model. Not good even. The yellow keypads against the black of the cellphone itself looked dirty.

I had no choice but to get the pink model with pink keypads against the white cellphone. Cool.

Christmas Trees are Love

Went to SM South Mall yesterday after my day 3 vaccine (for dog bite) at RITM. It’s funny how the stores are dressed up both in Halloween and Christmas decorations. But, of course, I prefer Christmas more.

And I love this Christmas tree better than the bigger green ones. I know, though, that Nanay would insist on using our old Christmas tree from 20 years ago and won’t let me buy a new one. And besides, I think this tree would be very hard to store after Christmas. Imagine not wanting to deform the branches.

But I love this tree just the same.

Anyway, the follow-up vaccine was so itchy I always find myself scratching that part of my upper arm. Good, though, that it didn’t leave a red mark afterwards.

Angel went with me, perhaps because she knew I’d be roaming around Festivall Mall and SM South Mall afterwards. Those two malls were part of my younger years, actually. Lotsa good and bad memories. But it’s not the memories that I wanted to go back to at those malls. I was looking for a dri-fit shirt that would fit me. Every brand, it seems, only has Small for the smallest size. I can’t wear just small. As Nanay puts it, “parang kalalabas ko lang daw ng ospital” because size Small shirts look so big on me. Shirts have to be XS.

After those two malls, though, I still don’t have a dri-fit shirt.

Thanks G!

I “encashed my paycheck” last Friday. All my previous paychecks had been encashed and spent on things I couldn’t even remember what anymore. I was talking to my niece before I left the house that day about what to buy,  something that could be a remembrance. I’ve been wanting to do that ever since but haven’t done it till last Friday.

I roamed around the mall, and since I couldn’t buy an iPhone with how much my paycheck was worth (LoL!), I just bought a memory card

and had an extra (and smaller) eyeglasses made.

I was so lazy to look for the digicam so I just used the Kodak ZX1 (which is great for videos but not for pics) for the above images.

Need Comfort

I’m mostly a jeans person. I don’t really wear shorts when I go out. But since I plan to roam around the provinces near Manila a bit more this year, I thought about buying a pair of shorts for my trips.

Honestly, I envied Gerald when we went to Pagbilao cuz he looked so comfy in his shorts.

And I want to be more comfortable next time.

Meet my new pair of Penshoppe shorts:

Bought it yesterday. After the vet and the dentist, Princess, Angel, and I headed to the mall. And I forced Angel to treat me to a KFC lunch. LoL!

She also bought a pair of shoelaces at American Boulevard where I saw this notebook:
And yea, I also forced her to pay for it. Heh!

Solo

I'm so excited for Nasugbu on Saturday that after visiting the doctor this morning, I dropped by the mall to shop for stuff. I originally planned to buy a North Face backpack but while at the backpack section I felt a little uneasy. I don't know but I had this feeling that I'm way beyond my backpack years. Well it's different if it's a National Geographic traveller but a North Face made me feel like... I dunno... so school boy.

I thought a gym bag would be better. But the gym bags I saw were all so big it would look like I'm going away for a month vacation when I'd only stay in Nasugbu overnight.

And then I passed by Solo and they had these man bags on display. I for the three solid-colored bags and had them put on a table side by side.

I asked the sales rep assisting me which of the three he'd choose if he's to buy and he said the black one. And I picked the black one. Not because of the sales rep but because it was really my choice even before I asked him.

SM Bicutan Taxi Bay Still Sucks

Just when I thought SM Bicutan's Taxi Bay just got better, I had a now-becoming-familiar-taxi-experience late this afternoon on my way home from the said mall.

First of all, the driver of the first taxi in line was talking quite happily with the guard on the other side of the bay, when the Paalala in big bold letters clearly states that taxi drivers should be inside their cabs at all times.

So okay it was scorching hot, it's understandable that the driver would wanna get out of the car while waiting for a passenger with the engine off.

Immediately upon getting in and telling the driver my destination, I started rummaging inside my bag for my loots of the day. A few meters off, the driver asked me how much I usually pay to my destination. I got alarmed and immediately looked at the taxi meter. It was off.

"Hala, wala kang metro," I said, even smiling, but secretly fishing out the digicam from my bag.

"Wala nga sir, e, kasi pabalik-balik lang ako dito," the driver replied.

I told him I usually pay Php60. The meter would always be somewhere between 45-50, and I think I'm already generous enough to give an additional 10. So this driver, taxi meter or no, would only get 60 from me. I snapped a pic of the license number.

"100 sir, wala kasing pasahero pabalik."

100? I thought. Wala na ngang metro 100 pa? It irritated me so much also because (1) he had no right to wait for passengers in that bay in the first place because his taxi had no meter; and (2) he's over-charging.

He went down to 70 but I insisted on 60. The conversation was getting so heated and long already, my voice was already showing signs of anger, that I asked him a final, "Ayaw mo?"

He said ayaw so I stormed out of his cab. Sayang nga lang I forgot how irritated he'd be if I left the door open, but I banged it hard before walking back to the taxi bay.

Good thing about it was that I had my PLDT Landline Plus with me. And since I already had the Security Office's number from previous reklamos, I was able to talk to the head of security in an instant, through a cellphone, and with no extra charge. Okay it sounds like a paid ad but I’m just really happy I availed of this PLDT SIM card.

The security head arrived (in a motorbike) seconds after I reached the taxi bay on foot, and in no time I was complaining. The head, whose surname I always forget (it sounds like Fabian Ver, Fabinier, Fafabear... I'm sorry), promised me they'd ban that plate number at their bay.

I just hope so because I've already made it a vow to check on taxi plate numbers at that bay everytime I’d go there.

But be that as it may, I really wanna thank the security head. He's always been so accommodating every time I'd call or see him about something. And never did he show signs of anger. Laging mahinahon.

I know SM Bicutan sucks, but it doesn't mean the service couldn't be improved. All we have to do is tell them why they suck and hopefully they'd look into it.

But why do I always go to SM Bicutan? It's the accessibility. If only there's another mall as close from where I live.

Cheap Wireless Mouse

wireless mouse

Bought a wireless mouse for the net book. Sometimes it’s fun to use the scroll pad, but when you’re in a hurry and especially when editing pics, I really need to use a mouse.

I don’t need to say where it’s from cuz it’s already written on the mouse. It costs Php480 and it functions as a mouse naman kahit cheap compared to other leading brands. The default speed is way too fast than the regular A4Tech that I’m fond of using, but you can always adjust that to whatever speed satisfies you.

Now I have a problem with taking pictures of my loot and posting them here. Someone thinks I’m being mayabang. Hello Bam hehe. But no I’m not mayabang. First off, my purchases aren’t that expensive to be called mayabang. Look at all the other blogs out there and compare. Second, I post pics of stuff for reference. Like when and where I bought something and the likes, and of course, to share na rin what I think of them – if they’re good or not so good.

So there. And really I’m not mayabang. As if naman lotsa people are reading this blog. I get an average of 20 hits a day and I’m sure more than half of my daily visitors belong to my immediate family.

Of Pink Shoes and Tiara

Nica of Animal House texted me this afternoon saying she already had some shoes that would fit Princess. Good thing one of my "assistants" didn't go to school, so I was able to go to the mall early.

Nica had two pairs(?) and the above pic was the one I bought for Princess. Like I'm now so fond of my black Converse, it would be fun if she wore pink Coverse-y shoes when we’re together.

This was the shoes I didn't get. So colorful I found it baduy. At the back is pink one.

And oi! I also found a little tiara for her. Look how cute it was on her. I just don't know why there's a burst of white on the top right and bottom left pictures.

I was also looking for an extra battery for my netbook (I wanna be ready for the brownouts) but Asianic said those were only available at IBM. I don't believe Asianic, though. I'm sure Bam would know where to buy one.

I was out for only 1.5 hours and look what I hoarded:

Not much but what more if I spend the whole day at the mall? Naaa, my limited money could only take as much. Heh!

Sexy Panties

Doggie Underwear
I was at the mall this afternoon to pay some bills and since I finished the task in like 10 minutes, I decided to spend some time to go aimlessly around the mall, something which I haven’t done for a long time.

I bought some stuff – a pair of disposable contacts, aircon filters, a usb mouse, another bottle of Ling Zhi from the not-so-friendly customer assistant at the Mandarin Chinese Drug Center (customer service really sucks). My last stop was Animal House cuz it was located next to the mall exit nearest the taxi bay. I bought dog pellets, and a couple of pouches of wet Pedigree. I was almost leaving when I saw the dog panties near the secretary’s table.

It’s cuteness to the max and I just knew I couldn’t resist buying. If I didn’t, I knew my conscience would bug me everytime I’d see my Princess.

I still have to take a pic of Princess wearing this.

Hermes construction in Greenbelt 3/thefashpack.blogspot.com
Filipinos love shopping. Most of us aren’t even scared of the recession because poverty is nothing new to us. We know we can get by.

Perhaps that is why elite brands decide to bring their merchandise here. Because Filipinos just can’t resist shopping.

Hermes in Manila, in The Philippine Star.

Girls, get your card(s) ready.

I’m not posting this because I wanna advertise about the Armani Exchange sale. I’m posting this picture because I love Kerry Degman. But yeah, Armani has an ongoing ONLINE sale until September 7th.
