U2 - "New Year's Day"

I'll just imagine I'm in a U2 concert and feeling good instead of having a bad cold.

Happy New Year everyone!

Another One Bites the Dust

Still not finished cleaning up. My first agenda for the day were the aircons. I don't use the Carrier anymore cuz it doesn't cool well. But I don't wanna junk it yet cuz the technician said I just have to convert it to manual and it will be fine.

So I bought a Panasonic sometime ago and it's what I've been using for a little over a year now.

Last time I cleaned the Carrier was, I think, December 31 din last year. LoL! And take a look:

The blower (or whatever you call it):

Grabe. I had no idea I was keeping so much dust in the house.

With regards to the Panasonic, I had it cleaned last month.

The blower is clean(er):

But take a look inside:

I can only clean the parts I can remove and wash. The body of the Panasonic will have to wait until I guess Tuesday cuz, the soonest I can get an appointment for it will be Monday.

With Sadness Comes Masterpieces

I just learned about this now:

And "Drops of Jupiter" has always been one of my favorites. I didn't know there was a sad, sad story behind it.

Wilde (Almeda?)

I love Oscar Wilde - from his life to his works. His gay life wasn't discussed in school but I came to know about his life story through Leonardo DiCaprio's "Total Eclipse." (Trivia: Leo did a frontal nudity in that movie.)

Now, Oscar Wilde's novel, Dorian Gray, is already a movie. It premiered in the UK September 9th and is still due to be shown in other countries such as Portugal (Dec. 31), Russia (Jan. 21), and Germany (March 18).

I don't know if they're showing it here (or did they?) but I sure wanna see it. Especially when I saw this teaser:

Exciting! LoL! But really, Oscar Wilde is one of my (gay) inspirations.

New Year's Resolution

So what's your resolutions for the New Year 2010? Or are you the type who doesn't make a list?

1. I'd like to explore more of the Philippines. The farthest I went north was actually Bulacan. I went to Pandi last Sunday, but I have also been to Plaridel some four(?) years ago with Resty. Which is farther? The map says they're just on the same latitude up north.

Down south, I've been to various places in Batangas, Laguna, Quezon, Lucena. Also ship traveled to Marinduque and Mindoro.

I'm not so well-traveled. And I'm looking at Laoag for my destination next month. But it all depends on whether Resty transfers to that area immediately (just like what he told me before Christmas).

Also, I wanna spend my birthday with a very small group in some resort. I love small groups. And I think Balai Isabel in Talisay, Batangas is just perfect. Their Sampaguita Room is just Php3,920 a night for up to 4 persons.

Look:

Lovely, no?

2. I don't wanna cram anymore. I have to be more organized this coming year. Hala, why wait pa pala for January 1? LoL! I should start with it NOW NA!

3. I wanna do more projects for the less fortunate kids. All I can think of are feeding projects cuz I've done that last Christmas (though not with the less fortunates) and I liked it.

Perhaps I can also initiate a fund-raising event of some kind. Or perhaps even start a charity. I know it's kinda big already but I wanna do something worthwhile.

4. I wanna have more time for myself; love myself more. I don't wanna be stressed out this year, but that doesn't mean I don't wanna be busy. Being busy is good, cuz being not busy means no money.

So how can I avoid the stress? This connects to #2. I have to be more organized. Prioritize what needs to be prioritized and cross out the unnecessary stuff on my to-do list.

And speaking of to-do lists, I wanna buy a new Moleskine! I only have until tomorrow to buy pala. So I'll have an organizer when 2010 starts.

And I really have to go out tomorrow (sick or not) because I have to print overdue pics dated June 2009 pa. I'll give it as a New Year's gift to Mylene.

I also should bring Princess to the groomer because she has a broken nail. I don't know when it happened but the blood in the crack was already dry when I noticed it Saturday night. I didn't bring her to the groomer ASAP cuz I think she's not bothered by it. She's not even pilay and she lets me touch the part.

5. I wanna be more friendly so I won't miss out on invites in the neighborhood. Mygawd they're afraid to approach me, really. Perhaps I should have a statement shirt made with an "I Don't Bite" print on the front and back.

6. I wanna start stitching again. I've been yearning to go back to cross-stitching but DMC shops are soo rare na. Megamall and South Mall na lang. I wanna stitch those cherubs that I loved since the first time I saw the pattern.

Actually, I have organized my DMC threads already according to their first digit and made a list of them so I won't be buying threads with the same number just because I'm not aware I already have them.

I was kinda busy with Christmas stuff that I didn't know they already joined Showtime. Mark Baracael is the cutest. Got to know about him in Friendster and Facebook. And he's so fond of uploading pics. He even did some video blogging but never mind.

Watch the vid. You'll know Mark because a) he's the cutest; and b) Yayo Aguila noticed him.

Vice Ganda talked to him here:

I just didn't know if they won during the weekly finals last Friday (Christmas Day). But my guess is no.

Actually, I find Bongbong Marcos charming.

Should I Throw?

As part of my tidying up for 2010, I emptied by bags, threw all unnecessary receipts, and came realize that I had so much money (at least not as much as I expected) stuck in those bags.

But look, I'm Php160.00 poorer.

Which led to an additional New Year's Resolution of counting and checking all the money given to me as change wherever.

Dogs and Chains

I'm a big PETA supporter. But this certain Sean Kingston ad about not chaining your dog is, I don't know, far out? He says chaining your dog is the cruelest thing. But it really depends.

For instance, I really have to chain my Princess during walks. Hello. If not, I'd lost her.

But yeah, I agree with him with the fact that chained dogs can harm themselves as what happened to my sister's labrador (the collar got caught up in her gate's grill, choking him to death). Yeah, morbid, and I agree that we should chain our dogs with caution.

Also, no chains are necessary if they're inside our homes/backyards. The fact is, I only chains my dogs when walking.

But to not chain the dogs at all? Ridiculous. I know I'd be so cruel if I don't chain Princess when we go out. As friendly as shih-tzus are, I'm sure someone would just snatch her away. Or she'd get hit by a passing car.

Ack! Too much of this talk. I hate thinking about losing her.

Charice Wows Crowd on Singapore Idol Finale

Charice guested on the grand finale of Singapore Idol singing her famous covers of Whitney Houston's I Have Nothing and I Will Always Love You.

The show's host, Gurmit Singh, who was so amazed with her performance, even said that Singapore loves her.

Charice amazed the crowd even more when she performed Note to God. The host said his jaw dropped, bounced back, and dropped again.

Charice never ceases to amaze her audience.

[StarStruck] Sef Cadayona Goes Home

I wasn't able to watch the elimination last night but it really surprised me that Sef Cadayona went home this early.

I'm not a fan but I can name one or two males that were more deserving to go home last night.

But I also admit that despite the fact that Sef looks good, he doesn't look like a star.

He reminds me of Marvin Agustin who is talented and is always visible but can never be a superstar.

I'm sure Sef will get projects to boost his career. His smile is so endearing I'm sure he already has a fan base consisting of high school girls.

SOP will also need him cuz he dances well.

Anyway, last night was Rox Montealegre's first time in the Bottom 3. And Princess Snell's 2nd! LOL! One more and she will automatically be eliminated. Just like Ian Batherson who had also been in the bottom group twice.

C'mon guys. Vote for Rox! She should be saved. Princess should go home ahead of her.

Bulacan!

I was in Pandi, Bulacan yesterday to visit Richard, a newlywed old friend who's just home for the wedding and the holidays. He's working abroad and will be going back there on New Year's day.

I went with other old friends, mostly from the neighborhood.

Reunions are really fun. The 6 hours we spent there was the best.

I couldn't help but eat chicken, though, cuz I had no choice. I should have brought some veggies. I was kinda lucky, though, cuz someone gave us chopseuy while they were drinking.

Imagine being in front of these when I was just starting to be a vegan again:

But it's all good cuz they didn't nag about my "no drinking" anymore. Although they kinda didn't approve of the vegan stuff. Oh well, they'll get used to it.

But I faced my first weird photo experience last night. I haven't had any orb in any pics before. But look at this:

This particular pic was taken by Danilo to prove that the orbs in the first pic (which I can't show) wasn't just an error in digital photo processing chuva.

Grabe I had goosebumps all over throughout the walk.

The ride home was smooth as it was a Sunday night, aside from the Bocaue part which was so slow. We originally planned to buy New Year firecrackers on our way home, but it was late and they were all drunk.

I wasn't able to go on the internet the whole day, only once to check my Facebook on my phone, but then I lost connection after that. And just when I was so itching to log on when I got home, PLDT disconnected on me right after I clicked on Facebook's "Login." Still no internet when I woke up this morning. I only got connected about 10 am.

The nephews (with their towering cousins) have just gone home, while the other cousins and their respective families actually stayed only until 4 pm. The only visitor left now is my oldest niece's boyfriend. Two nieces live with us and the one with the boyfriend is sleeping in her room. She has work tonight so she must sleep. The boyfriend stayed in the living room, watching Naruto Shippuden (spell?) on the PC. Now he's already asleep on the arm chair. Good thing not the couch.

Before lunch (which means before the visitors arrived), I treated the kids of the neighborhood with a little something. I always believe that when it comes to small children, it's not what you give that matters, but the idea that they are receiving something from you. It's just pancit and bread and softdrinks but I could sense the happiness in them. Also I gave out handkerchiefs (rolled up and tied with ribbons) as a token from me. I've been giving out handkerchiefs for four years now that majority of them already know what they're gonna receive after eating.

It's good, in a way, because they can easily remember me when they see a hankie. But I'm thinking that perhaps I should put something else with the handkerchiefs next Christmas in order to be not so predictable. Ballpens, maybe? Hehe.

Anyway, I miscalculated. There are more than 10 hankies left.

Instead of wrapping the handkerchiefs, I just tied them up with ribbons because a) it's easier to do, therefore, not so much time consuming; and b) ribbons are cheaper than gift wrappers. And yes, I did them myself.

You could imagine the boys' reaction.

They'd surely have a BIG celebration this Christmas.

What's the New Time Slot?

Haven't been watching StarStruck Shout Out lately. A different show replaced its time slot.

Too bad I missed the episode last Friday. They must have announced that day what their new time slot would be starting this week.

But still, they could have issued more advisories of some sort over the weekend for those not in the know.

Rica's Confused?

Richard Poon and Christian Bautista sang to the housemates during the Christmas Ball. Richard Poon is really gwapo. I've heard so much about the Taiwanese, but Richard's a Taiwanese that I love to love =)

But look at how Rica's hand is on Richard's waist, too, and the other on Richard's shoulder. LoL! Confused pa si Rica whether she's a boy or girl. Love you, Rica!

Vegan!

For the nth time, I'm trying out vegan-ism again. It's this sudden urge for kangkong that got me. And I don't know where the urge came from. Perhaps I just missed the kangkong with bagoong at Chowking during my college days.

Good thing we still had kangkong. But unluckily for me, we ran out of bagoong. LOL! I blanched the kangkong and used soy sauce for a dip. Went well with rice.

I really hope that I can keep up with this no-meat diet. More so, green veggies are also good antioxidants.

Honestly, I wanna keep a healthy lifestyle. I haven't had even a drag of cigarette or a drink of alcohol for almost three years now, since after I got out of the hospital for hypokalemia. Hypokalemia is a problem with potassium count so it had nothing to do with smoking or drinking. But still, I chose to stop those vices for fear of being in the ICU again.

Now I hate even the smell of cigarettes. And I can bear clubbing without drinking alcohol =)

All I can't bring myself to do is sleep early. Can't really sleep before 1 a.m. I can force myself to sleep by that hour. But if I'd follow my body and go to bed only when I already feel sleepy? It'd be a little before 3 a.m.

And it's too bad I always have to wake up early.

[PBB Double Up] The Christmas Ball and the Nominees

Johan is most gwapo at the Christmas Ball held recently inside the PBB House.

The Christmas Ball (and all the make-overs) was a reward for their successful synchronized swimming task headed by Sam.

Before the Christmas ball, though, they had to face the outcome of the nomination. Patrick, Kath, and Cathy turned out to be the official nominees. Must be so hard for them to party knowing they're nominated. So cruel, Big Brother.

The make-over didn't seem to have positive effects on Patrick. Bakit s'ya pumangit?

Reason?

I was stuck at chuvaness.livejournal.com for her 6 millionth reader contest.

Amfness! More than 800 people were online and the closest I was able to get to 6,000,000 was 6,000,018! Sayang but the counter adds up so fast talaga.

I wanted to get the Flip. Para hindi na ako bumili. Pero oh well...

[StarStruck] Dance Off!

It was dance workshop this week for the StarStruck survivors, but not all of them could go onstage because not all were deserving. Only 2 pairs for each dance would perform.

For the hip-hop routine, Douglas Nierras chose Diva and Rocco, and Nina and Sef.

Two survivors chosen to dance hip-hop were also chosen to do the ballroom. Diva and Rocco were paired up in hip-hop, but this time, Diva was partnered with Enzo, and Rocco was with Rox.

[StarStruck V] Zeryl Lim Goes Bye Bye

After Rye Burgos, another one of the international contenders had taken the boot earlier this evening. Zeryl Lim was eliminated from the competition, leaving Nina Kodaka the only one left of the three international contestants who got into the Top 14.

Zeryl and Sarah both had heart conditions so they were made to rest instead of strain themselves in Douglas's dance class. But the missed class didn't go free of charge. Both of them got demerits from the dance instructor as a result. Princess also got demerits for missing last night's class, for what reason, I don't know.

Zeryl and Princess both landed on the bottom 3. It seemed like their fans weren't able to save them from being at the bottom. Sarah might have earned demerits, but she seemed to have such an actively voting fan base to keep her atop.

The other one in the bottom 3 (and also the first one to be called "safe") was Sef. And according to Douglas, Sef didn't belong at the bottom 3.

I was hoping against hope that it was Princess and not Zeryl who'd go. But the b***h stayed. Too bad I still have to deal with watching her everyday.

The question is, though: If Zeryl and Princess didn't get demerits, could Sef have gone packing?

Omigad...

[PBB Double Up] Carol's Eviction Video

I wanted her out na rin because I feel that if she didn't go this week, she might go out of the house praning already.

But still, saying goodbye is always sad. Watch how she immediately stood up to go to Rica after she was announced evicted. Kaya lang ang daming humarang to hug her. Those b*****s. I really think that only Rica and Melai were the only ones true to Carol during her stay inside PBB.

Bolivia Wins Mister International 2009

Mr. Bolivia Juan Bruno Kettels Torrico won the title of Mister International 2009. The pageant was held December 19th at the Plaza International Hotel in Taichung, Taiwan.

Hector Soria from Spain was first runner-up, while Lebanon representative Marcelino Gebrayel was second runner-up.

Here are the winners in their swimwear:

Mr. International Juan Bruno Kettels Torrico (Bolivia)

1st Runner-up Hector Soria (Spain)

2nd Runner-up Marcelino Gebrayel (Lebanon)

As expected, our representative Michael Manansala didn't win. But I adore his national costume:

It's like archangel meets sarimanok.

Here's his swimwear photo:

[StarStruck V] Princess Irritates Douglas

When he says stand by, you stand by, okay?

I think this happened yesterday. I'm not really much of a Princess Snell fan. Although my shih tzu is named Princess =) I wasn't able to watch Shout Out yesterday because I was busy with Princess (my dog) and her new costume for the holidays.

Back to StarStruck, I remember an episode when they were still 20 and they were asked who they thought wasn't deserving to be in the Top 20.

Rox got the highest number of votes. I guess there was an anti-Rox group among them, headed by Princess and Astrid. 6 voted against Rox and she got the highest number of dislike votes.

Luckily for Rox, five of the six who voted against her didn't make it to the Top 14. Only Princess did.

Scabies and Santa Costume

An old lady talked to me yesterday while I was waiting to be assisted at Animal House in Bicutan. Princess was in her bag and since I'm already used to people coming up to me to ask about Princess, I smiled at the old lady when she approached me to ask for Princess's age. I told her the age (2 and a half), and she said her shih tzu was 10. I got kinda excited because I also want Princess to stay with us for as long as her little body would allow (reason for the paranoia everytime she gets sick). But the old lady said her dog has skin problems.

As if on cue, the groomer came out of the lab carrying her 10-year-old dog. I was shocked. The dog's body, shaved so close to skin, was full of scabies, scattered parts were even bleeding. I didn't wanna be rude but I immediately kept distance, went to the secretary even if it wasn't my turn yet. They knew me there, anyway. And I pleaded to get inside the office just to get Princess away from the dog with skin disease. From what I've heard and read, scabies are infectious. And there's no way I would allow scabies on Princess!

Nika, the kind secretary, let me inside the small office. She somehow sensed I was already freaking out inside. I immediately went to business cuz I wanted to get out of the clinic already. The lady with the sick shih tzu was still talking to the vet and looked like she had no plans of leaving.

I asked for the costume (for Princess, of course) I wanted to buy and Nika was so kind that she let me in the lab so I could fit the costume on Princess. The groomer, though, the one who handed the sick shih tzu to the old lady, offered assistance. I made him disinfect first before letting him handle Princess. And I knew better than to put Princess on top of the lab table. She remained in the bag while fitting.

I swear the experience made me realize that Princess could get diseases in grooming centers. I better learn how to groom her myself.

Anyway, this is the costume:

Kellan Lutz for CK Underwear

Mark Wahlberg was first known as the brother of New Kids on the Block (now known as NKOTB) member Donnie Wahlberg. Then people came to know his rapping abilities when he formed Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch. But being a Calvin Klein Underwear model gave his popularity much boost. Up to now, after many movies thereafter, he's still most famous for his Calvin Klein ads, both on tv and in print.

Now, after 17 years after Mark Wahlberg became a CK underwear model, the fashion giant was able to find a successor in the ripped abs and beautiful face of Emmett Cullen. I mean, Kellan Lutz. Come to think of it, I can't think of anyone else who can fill in the shoes that Mark Wahlberg left behind. At least not among the tween stars currently dominating Hollywood.

I'm already dying with anticipation of seeing Kellan in such a tv ad as the one above.

And aside from the fact that this endorsement will boost Kellan's career to such heights, I'm also sure the print ads would even be better than this:

Alice in Wonderland

Another movie to watch out for:

Tim Burton's "Alice in Wonderland" is about Alice's return to the magical world as a 19-year-old girl in order to destroy the Red Queen. It is based on the books by Lewis Carroll - 1865's "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland," and 1871's "Through the Looking-Glass" and "What Alice Found There."

20-year old Mia Wasikowska plays the role of Alice Kingsley. Johnny Depp is The Mad Hatter. He's more handsome without so much hollows in his cheeks. Seeing the trailer, Johnny Depp's The Mad Hatter reminds me of his Charlie character.

And Anne Hathaway, who plays the White Queen, is very beautiful despite the thick brows and dark lips.

"Alice in Wonderland" is gonna be shown April 05, 2010.

No place to watch this but in imax.
